George Lainas
George Lainas is a Consultant Reproductive Gynecologist and Scientific Director of Eugonia IVF Unit, Athens, Greece. He performed his undergraduate studies at University of Insubria Medical School, Varese, Italy and at Medical School University of Athens from where he obtained his Medical Degree. He trained in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Kings College University Hospital, London, UK at the department of Fetal Medicine under the supervision of Professor Kypros Nicolaides and at the Royal London University Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust, London, UK. Sub specialty in Reproductive Medicine was undertaken at St Bartholomew’s Hospital, Unit of Reproductive Medicine. His PhD thesis was on GnRH agonist for triggering final oocyte maturation at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki under the supervision of Professor Kolibianakis. Furthermore, George Lainas is the immediate past Coordinator of ESHRE Reproductive Endocrinology Special Interest Group (SIG). George Lainas has been a member of the Guideline Development Group of the ESHRE Guidelines of Ovarian Stimulation in ART, Recurrent Implantation Failure and Key Performance Indicators of the ART clinic. He is a member of the scientific committee of the ESHRE annual meeting of 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023, while he has been the organiser of several ESHRE campuses and pre- congress courses. Has authored and co-authored several scientific papers published in peer-reviewed journals and is a regular invited speaker of international congresses. Research interests mainly include optimization of ovarian stimulation protocols, poor ovarian response, ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome and evidence-based medicine in reproductive health care.
